Our Journey of Innovation and Impact

  • 1998 – 2002
    Foundations of Innovation
CES was founded in Philadelphia during U.S. energy deregulation, launching MarketIQ, retail billing support, and consulting services. Despite industry turbulence from Enron’s collapse and 9/11, CES expanded MarketIQ into new markets, built its first forecasting tools, and established a loyal client base among municipal and cooperative utilities — laying the foundation for long-term growth.
  • 2003 – 2007
    Seeds of Growth
This period marked the planting of new business lines and market opportunities. CES formed Galt Power, entered demand response programs, and pioneered congestion management through FTR analysis. The company scaled revenues, created PowerGREEN through a software acquisition, and built its first Leadership Team. A 24/7 Operations Center was established, ensuring clients had around-the-clock market support.
  • 2008 – 2012
    Expanding Horizons
CES grew stronger through the financial crisis and relocated to its current Philadelphia headquarters. International opportunities took shape with the first India office in Pune and the launch of a SCADA team for generator operations. Breakthrough platforms emerged, including StorageIQ and CES|BLUE, alongside the launch of the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA). These years cemented CES’s role as a forward-looking global energy partner.
  • 2013 – 2017
    Driving Transformation
CES reached peak revenues in congestion management and demand response while expanding its leadership team. The acquisition and integration of PowerIT strengthened end-to-end solutions. Innovation thrived with MICRO platform launch, consulting in renewables and storage, and the landmark $25M Capacity Deal. Global thought leadership emerged with the creation of World Energy Storage Day (WESD) and early policy contributions.
  • 2018 – 2022
    Pioneering the Future
With policy leadership in India and beyond, CES championed the National Energy Storage Mission and began development of GridBOOST. The company sustained operations through COVID while hosting the first virtual WESD Global Marathon. Consulting expanded into EV strategy, battery manufacturing, and hydrogen, while GridBOOST scaled to major U.S. ISOs. These years showcased CES’s ability to anticipate market shifts and deliver pioneering solutions
  • 2023 – 2025
    Global Leadership & Innovation
CES celebrated its 25th anniversary in Philadelphia, expanded operations in the UAE, and managed the first DC-coupled storage project in ISONE using GridBOOST. Advancements in EV and hydrogen modeling strengthened its consulting portfolio, while new projects in California and Zambia expanded global reach. With AI adoption across operations and R&D expansion in Pune, CES continues to demonstrate resilience and innovation on the global stage.
